Dr. Jiang has extensive experience in leading research teams in developing mathematical models and statistical analysis tools for biological and biomedical systems. With a PhD degree in Physics, and trained as a biophysicist, Jiang’s research interests reside in the interface between physics, mathematics, computer science and biology/biomedicine. Prior to joining GSU in 2011, she was a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 13 years.
She has published over 100 papers, and has delivered 150 invited talks at conferences and workshops, on topics ranging from collective patters in microbial communities, infectious disease, to cancer development and eye diseases. She was responsible for developing the first cell-based multiscale model for tumor growth (2005), and tumor angiogenesis (2007). Her research has been supported by NIH, NSF, DOE, Los Alamos National Laboratory, University of California System, and GSU.
She is a co-founder and current Director of the Board of the q-Bio annual conference series, which is now in the 12th year.
Hao Chen is a PhD in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Georgia State University. He holds BS in Physics from Nanjing University. He has experiences in Physics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, and Biology and has engaged in studies of liver fibrosis and breast cancer.
He developed a new algorithm in liver fibrosis detection. His experience in Physics, Biology, and Statistics enable him to develop a deep and multidisciplinary theoretical understanding in liver fibrosis formation and development, as well as a unique skill set in solving both medical, technical, and business challenges. He also has extensive connections to venture capitalists and hospitals in China.
